Upload Save Grayed Out

If the “Upload Save” option is grayed out, it’s usually because the cartridge doesn’t support save functionality.

No save chip

Many games, especially older or simpler titles, don’t include save memory. These games were designed to be played in a single session or use password systems instead.

If your game doesn’t have a save chip, the “Upload Save” option will be unavailable.

Unsupported save chip

Some cartridges (very few) have save chips that Playback doesn’t recognize yet. This can happen with:

• Uncommon or regional variants
• Cartridges using non-standard save mechanisms
• Some reproduction cartridges

If your cartridge has a save chip but the option is still grayed out, please contact us. We can likely add support for it in a future update.
