Audio Issues
Troubleshoot sound problems in Playback.
2 min read
If you’re experiencing audio problems during gameplay, here’s how to resolve common issues.
No sound
Check your system audio
- Verify your computer’s volume isn’t muted
- Check that the correct audio output device is selected in your OS
- Test audio in other applications to confirm your speakers/headphones work
Check Playback audio settings
- Go to Settings in Playback
- Verify the audio output device is correctly selected
- Try switching to a different audio device if available
Restart Playback
Close Playback completely and relaunch it. Audio devices are detected at startup, so a restart may resolve detection issues.
Audio crackling or popping
Crackling audio usually indicates a performance or buffer issue.
Try these fixes
- Close other applications — Free up system resources
- Check performance settings — Go to Settings and try adjusting frameskip options
- Disable High Fidelity Mode — This uses more CPU resources
- Try a different audio device — Some devices handle audio buffering better

Audio delay or desync
If audio is out of sync with gameplay:
- Check your system isn’t under heavy load
- Try disabling any audio enhancements in your OS
- Use wired headphones/speakers instead of Bluetooth (Bluetooth adds latency)
Wrong audio device
If audio is playing through the wrong speakers or headphones:
- Go to Settings in Playback
- Find the audio output setting
- Select the correct device from the dropdown
- Restart Playback if the change doesn’t take effect immediately
