Playback integrates with Discord® Rich Presence to show your friends what game you’re playing in real-time.
What your friends see
When connected, your Discord status shows:
Playing Playback
"Your Game Title"
on Game Boy AdvanceThis appears in your Discord profile, friends’ activity feeds, and server member lists.

Discord integration is not available on ARM-based Linux systems (e.g., Raspberry Pi). This is a limitation of Discord’s Rich Presence library.
Setting up Discord
Step 1: Open Integrations
- Click the Playback logo (top-left corner)
- Select Settings
- Go to Integrations
- Find the Discord section
Step 2: Log in
- Click the Login button
- Your web browser will open automatically
- Log in to Discord (if not already logged in)
- Click Authorize to allow Playback to access your Discord status
- Return to Playback — you should now be logged in
Step 3: Verify connection
Once connected, the Discord section shows your Discord profile picture and username.

Managing your connection
Logging out
- Go to Settings > Integrations
- Find the Discord section
- Click Logout
Your Discord status will stop showing Playback activity.
Re-authenticating
If your connection expires or has issues:
- Log out (if still logged in)
- Click Login again
- Re-authorize in your browser
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| Discord section not visible | You may be on Linux ARM64, which doesn’t support Discord integration |
| Login button not working | Check your internet connection; Discord servers may be down |
| Browser doesn’t open | Manually visit Discord and check your authorized apps |
| Status not updating | Make sure you’re logged in and a game is actively playing |
| Authentication expired | Log out and log back in to refresh your token |
Revoking access completely
To fully disconnect Playback from Discord:
- In Playback: Settings > Integrations > Discord > Logout
- In Discord: User Settings > Authorized Apps > Playback > Deauthorize
