What consoles does the GB Operator support?
The GB Operator is compatible with the entire Game Boy® console family:
- Game Boy (DMG)
- Game Boy Pocket
- Game Boy Color
- Game Boy Advance
- Game Boy Micro
- Peripherals like the Game Boy Camera
What are the GB Operator’s dimensions?
The GB Operator measures 35 × 32 × 90 mm (1.4 × 1.3 × 3.5 in) and weighs 45g (1.6 oz). It features a transparent enclosure with a matte black PCB and a gold-plated finish. A matte black rubber pad on the bottom prevents the device from shifting during use.
When not in use, the device can also act as a stand to display your favorite game cartridge.
What operating systems are supported?
The GB Operator works with:
- Windows
- macOS
- Linux
Thanks to broad platform compatibility, the GB Operator works not only with computers but also a wide range of devices including Steam Deck, ASUS ROG handhelds, Raspberry Pi, and more. It connects via USB-A to USB-C cable and communicates through the Playback app.

Does the USB-C connection provide HDMI output?
No, the GB Operator does not output video via HDMI. It connects to your computer where games are displayed through the Playback app.
Can I use any cartridge region?
Yes! The GB Operator and Playback software work with cartridges from all regions. There is no region locking.
Does it work with reproduction cartridges?
The GB Operator can read and write to many reproduction (counterfeit) cartridges. However, playing them may not always work correctly due to non-standard save mechanisms used by manufacturers. See Flashcart Support for details.
