macOS Setup

Getting started with Playback on macOS® is simple. No additional drivers are required.

System requirements

See the Downloads page for current system requirements. Playback supports both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

Installation

1. Download the macOS version from our downloads page
2. Open the downloaded DMG file
3. Drag Playback to your Applications folder
4. Eject the DMG

Connecting your Operator

1. Connect your Operator device using the included USB-A to USB-C cable
2. macOS will automatically recognize the device
3. The Operator’s LED should light up solid

No additional drivers or software are needed.

Apple Silicon Macs

Playback runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, and later) Macs. No Rosetta translation is required.

Troubleshooting

Operator not detected?

• Try a different USB port or cable
• If using a USB hub, try connecting directly to your Mac
• Check System Information > USB to see if the device appears

App won’t open?

• Check that your macOS version is supported (see Downloads)
• Try downloading the app again in case of a corrupted download
